I know…I’m a douche… and there’s a billion articles on how to take down the Scarab Tank…but this is my version!…and if your don’t like it, go screw yourself!!!
For those of you who don’t have Halo 3, a Scarab is an insect like armored tank used by the Covenant troops (very similar to the walkers in The Empire Strikes Back). The first time it appears it will come out of nowhere and almost step on you (I actually got crushed the first time). Here’s some helpful tips to defeat this metal monster.

First of all find cover right away. If you don’t get stepped on you will get taken down quickly by one of the powerful weapons that the Scarab holds…and it will target you. One blast from the Scarabs big plasma beam and your done.
Second, you need a big gun (that could be a sexual innuendo) or a vehicle with a big gun. The first run in with the Scarab there’s some rocket launchers up in the structure (that will do the trick if you don’t have a vehicle). My personal favorite is the Scorpion Tank (I’m such a geek), but a ghost (the purple hovercraft that the Covenant use) will do the trick.
Now…you need to find a good cover spot to shoot at the Scarab and take cover. Once again, that big plasma beam is lethal and it’s best not to get hit. You need to target the joints of the legs… your target will turn red when your pointed at the right spot. Now you want to hit not just one leg…but all of the leg joints. Eventually, the Scarab will sound a warning signal and slouch to the ground. Now it’s time to go into Luke Skywalker mode! The only way to destroy the Scarab is from the inside out. At this point the giant metal insect will be disabled, but not forever…so don’t f*#k around too much! You need to find a way into this metal beast. That can get tricky, depending on the orientation of the slouching Scarab. If your in a flying vehicle just land on the Scarabs deck (obviously). Otherwise use your brain dummy…just find a way in.
Once you get on the Scarab, you should be careful not to be taken out by Covenant soldiers. There are several of them aboard. You need to get to the bottom deck of the beast and find the Energy Core. It will be this glowing blue thing deep in the belly of the beast. Take what ever weapon you got and unload until the blue changes to red.
Now…RUN LIKE HELL!!! Just jump off the scarab and run to safety. The Scarab will explode like an atom bomb. Now all the chicks will dig you!……..NOT!!!! You couldn’t get laid in a whorehouse with a fist full of Fifty’s.
