My friend Jess picked up Guitar Hero 3 (RedOctaine / Neversoft Entertainment) for her Nintendo Wii last night at Midnight. She’s a hard core GH fan…and just hard core in general. Here’s her review of the third installment of the GH series, and a recounting of her experience waiting in line at Gamestop with a bunch of greasy geeks with hard-ons. (more…)
Microsoft makes it’s big attempt to get back some of their market share from Nintendo with the release of the Xbox 360 Arcade! The Xbox 360 Arcade (for those who don’t know) it the replacement for the core bundle, which was the cheapest of the console packages. The 360 Arcade unit will retail for $279.99 in the US and will come with a wireless controller, HDMI output, a 256MB memory card, and five Xbox Live Arcade games: Pac-Man Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket, and Feeding Frenzy. With the Wii priced at $249.99 with one controller and one game I think there may be some competition this holiday season. That’s if Nintendo doesn’t lower their price to compete…but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Microsoft is also pushing the Xbox live thing with some new releases of games and kids shows for download. Microsoft also announced today that for the first time ever, Looney Tunes cartoons featuring characters such as Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny will be made available for download through Xbox Live. Nickelodeon is also adding three new shows to Live: Blue’s Clues, The Backyardigans, and iCarly. Microsoft also announced Shrek-N-Roll exclusively for the service.
Blues Clues??? I guess Microsoft is preying on the Crack like addiction of the younger generation of gamers. Speaking of Crack…this video is dedicated to Angry Slacker. Two of his favorite things Wesley Willis (”Mom Smokes Crack”) and Sk8boarding.
I love Portal…no not ass-hole…Portal the game! I’m not gay!…ass clown (to quote The Bad Santa)! Seriously, I popped in The Orange Box (Valve) today and I wanted to see what the game Portal was all about. I had heard that it was an awesome, challenging and a funny game…not only from a review on gamespot.com, but the sales dude at Gamestop said it was pretty rad (he didn’t actually say that… he said something more geekier). So I was actually stoaked to play this game (did I say stoaked?). (more…)
I got the Orange Box!…no not the drunk redhead at the bar last night…the incredible three in one game by our friends at Valve! This game comes with not only Half Life 2, but you also get Team Fortress 2 and Portal.
“YES THATS THREE GAMES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE BOB…WHAT A DEAL!!!…BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE!”
No there’s not more… but thats is what you would expect right? Sounds like it’s too good to be true? Well it’s not, there are three kick ass games on one disk. I think that Valve wanted to make their mark with Xbox 360 and PS3 owners. I’ve just started on Half Life 2 today and it is awesome. I’ll be reporting back to you about the rest of the games this week. So STAY TUNED!!!!!
