A Day in the Life of a Happy Viking

So I am now f*#king addicted to the video game Viking: Battle fro Asgard (Sega / The Creative Assembly). I must have played for five hours yesterday. “Oh I’ll just play for a couple of minutes…” next thing you know, two hours have eroded from my life! Well here is some helpful tips on how to negotiate your way around Midgard.
First of all when you incarnate you will be at you army’s home base. You need to check your radar (GPS) on the top right of your screen and look for the green dots (those are friendly people that you need to talk to). Approach these people that have an icon above their head and hit B to talk to them. Most will have info that will send you on some kind of errand, but a few will have useless info. There will also be a couple of guys in the base camp that can sell you weapons, treasure maps, food and spells. In the beginning you won’t have any gold so you’ll need to get out and run some of these errands to get some treasure to pay for the things you need.
One important thing that needs to be done is that you need to free imprisoned soldiers to build an army so you can attack the legion stronghold later in the story. Another important thing is gaining the trust with other villages so you can make one unified army. The best thing to do is open your map (by pressing the < button) and go to the icons that open up as you talk to people (that give you tasks to do). Basically just wander around and look for legion scum to kill and the map will open up, and the puzzle will unfold.
Here's the bottom line. You need to free imprisoned soldiers, unite all the tribes in Midgard (by performing these tasks for people), get enough gold to buy some weapons and spells and go to the battle arena and buy some moves (you'll know what I'm talking about when you find the battle arena), then find the Dragon stone and power it up to summon a Dragon for battle.
The more of the legion soldiers you kill the more powerful you will get (when you kill these dudes a red or green orb will float out of the dead body and that will power you up). When you have maimed a legion soldier the X button will appear over his head... if you hit X you will give him the Ginsu (basically truncating him or chopping him in half... in slow motion if you hold the x button down) and get the maximum amount of orbs out of his dead body. In many cases when your fighting a bunch of these dudes you won't have time to deal with that... you just need to flail the f*#k out of them until their all dead.
One more tip is use the Leystones. There are magic monolith like stones that have a glowing light that shoots into the sky (like Luxor in Vegas). This is the best mode of transpo. When you come upon one you just get near it and tap the B button a bunch of times and your map will come up just showing other Leystones... move your cursor to one and press the A button, and boom your transported to that Leystone. This will come in handy when you've just carried out a task for someone on the other side of the map, and need to get back to that dude. You will come across Leystones during your travels and then they will come up on your map... but you need to find them first.
That's it for now SUCKAS'. I'll be back with more tips later... hopefully this game will end someday... or I may just waste my whole life playing it.
Speaking of VIKINGS... Here's the band The Berserker, they are just totally wacky... I love the lyrics
