This weekend I went over to my uncle’s house to help him set up a wireless network. He bought a Linksys WRT54G Wireless G Router. We installed the wifi network in 10 minutes flat. No issues. Next we got his laptop on to the network and he was pulling down 5mps. Pretty fast for a wifi network.

Next I tried to get the Wii onto the wireless network. I entered the correct network name and wep key but no luck. I tried retyping the network name and wep again. Still no luck.

I went back to the desktop and logged into the router and looked at the settings and noticed I had set the router to only allow “G network” access. I flipped the switch to mixed and went back to the wii and it worked. I didn’t have time to go online and look into the wii forums but I will do that at a later date.

My cousins where very happy. Next step is to get movies streaming on the wii using the orb.com software. Look for part two…
